In order to get them to the stage of making money, you have to know your value.
You could be having fun and helping people, but if you’re not also making money, you will not be successful. As much as you would like to be, you can’t live or help people much if you can’t pay your own living expenses. So for your expertise and value to your audience, you can ask them for money in exchange and they will gladly pay it if you deliver on your promise and exceed the customers’ expectations.
Although a $10-$20 product does not sound like it will make you a millionaire, imagine what happens when you sell 50,000-100,000 copies of the product with very little investment. Now that $10-$20 product can make you $500,000-$2,000,000 if you market it right. Alternatively, if you have a higher-ticket item, you would need to sell less of them to make the same amount but then you have higher expectations to deliver. If a customer buys a $10 product, they expect to make 10 times the amount on it, or $100. The same applies to a $5,000 product, so if you can help a customer make $50,000, they will gladly pay you $5,000 to teach them.
